Oculoplastics

An oculoplastics ophthalmologist specialist is a doctor who focuses on diagnosing and managing conditions that affect the structures around the eyes, such as the eyelids, tear ducts, and orbit (eye socket). They address common pathologies like eyelid malpositions, tumors, orbital fractures, and tear duct obstructions, and perform procedures such as eyelid surgeries, orbital decompression, tear duct surgery, and removal of eyelid or orbital tumors to improve eye function, restore aesthetics, and preserve overall eye health.

Associated Procedures

Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a procedure to correct eyelid malpositions, remove excess skin, fat, or muscle from the eyelids, and improve the appearance and function of the eyelids.

Orbital decompression

Orbital decompression is a surgical procedure that involves removing bone from the eye socket (orbit) to create more space, relieving pressure on the eyes and reducing symptoms associated with orbital fractures or certain eye conditions like thyroid eye disease.

Tear duct surgery (Dacryocystorhinostomy)

Tear duct surgery, or dacryocystorhinostomy, is a procedure to create a new drainage pathway for tears by connecting the tear sac to the nose, allowing tears to flow properly and alleviating symptoms of tear duct obstruction.

Removal of eyelid or orbital tumors

Removal of eyelid or orbital tumors involves surgical excision of abnormal growths or tumors in the eyelids or orbit to prevent their spread, restore normal eye function, and preserve eye health.
